The project

A residential apartment block, located in central London, required a high performance wall decorative solution for its interior communal walls. Given the high foot-fall nature of this environment, the solution needed to fulfil many requirements.

In addition to providing aesthetic appeal, it needed to be exceptionally durable, with the highest levels of resistance to heavy wear and tear. There were also strong cost considerations as the owner wished to reduce the building’s long-term operational expenditure.

The decision to use Ilumitex followed an evaluation of numerous interior wall decorating solutions on the market. Ilumitex was selected as the standout system, as it fulfilled the aesthetic and long-term performance requirements of his demanding interior environment.

In addition, Ilumitex provided low maintenance advantages, environmentally friendly benefits, and making it the ideal long-term investment for this building.

Specification

A bespoke Ilumitex mix of white flakes, with the addition of a low percentage of both cream flakes and grey flakes was selected.

This custom Ilumitex choice was spray-applied throughout all the interior corridor walls in the 1980s and has proved to be a remarkable long-term success across the decades.

The seamless visual aesthetic produced by Ilumitex created an inviting, light and airy interior environment. Ilumitex has maintained both its premium finish and durability performance, despite years of continuous exposure to heavy wear and tear.

It was not until 2017, which was thirty seven years later that the exact same custom Ilumitex mix was applied to the same walls, to refresh the communal wall areas. The ability of Ilumitex to withstand constant wear and tear has significantly reduced the need for the costly redecoration programmes, that is usually required with conventional paint.

By dramatically reducing this ongoing expense, Ilumitex has delivered exceptional long-term value. Ilumitex has brought significant cost savings benefits to the operational costs of this apartment building over the decades and continues to do so today.
